Chi Videos for Beginners (Three videos for Tai Chi beginners. Each
one feeds into the next in progression) |
- EasyTaich
i
- This is the video I most recommend to beginners, seniors
and people with health issues. The most important factors
for novices learning from a video are that (a) the video
be user friendly, and (b) that the form it teaches be
both easy and convenient to practice in a small space.
The Easy Tai Chi video was designed with these two criteria
specifically in mind.
- Tai
Chi - 6 Forms, 6 Easy Lessons - by Dr. Paul Lam. More
advanced than Easy Tai Chi, it breaks down 6 fundamental
forms from the Yang 24 routine into 6 lessons, with detailed
explanation and repetition. The moves are presented in
front and back angles, Dr. Lam commenting on the form.
They are repeated several times and are relatively easy
to follow for a beginner. Includes a 3-in-1 Qi Gong workout.
Video
DVD
- Once you have mastered the EasyTaiChi video and Lam's
6 Forms, 6 Easy Lessons, I recommend that you graduate
to Dr. Lam's T'ai
Chi: The 24 Forms (which comes in both Video
and DVD)
The Yang 24 is the most popular version of Tai Chi
in the world. More

Twin
Warriors - Jet Li portrays the inventor of T'ai Chi.
A bit campy with elaborate fight sequences and not historically
correct... but fun none the less. The film is filled with
one fight scene after another. The final fight may be one
of the best best endings and fight scenes ever for the genre
martial arts films. All the fight scenes by the legendary
Yuen Woo Ping (''The Matrix'', ''Crouching Tiger, Hidden
Dragon'', ''Drunken Master''). Yuen Woo-ping, Jet Li, Michelle
Yeoh. DVD

Tai
Chi Melody - by Shanghai Chinese Traditional Orchestra.
Specifically composed for the practice of Tai Chi. One deficiency
is the track for the Yang 24 form. It's only 6 minutes long...
and as you become more senior you will want to slow the
form down to 7 or 8 minutes.
